FEATURED Staff Bio - LAWANDA

    LaWanda is a Loan Officer at CD Federal. She grew up in Oakland, CA and moved to Antioch in December 2004 when she purchased her first home. She is still living in that very home.

    Her first job was at Taco Bell. She was 16 years old and her manager was a neighbor that she used to babysit for. She began working there when she and her mom went in to order some food and as LaWanda says, “she made me fill out a job application. I guess my mom felt it was time I got a job.”

    LaWanda was introduced to the credit union movement when one of her long-time friends, who worked for Provident Credit Union, referred LaWanda to work there. She worked for Provident CU for 7 ½ years. She started as a teller and left as a Senior MSR/ TRAINER.

    LaWanda has been working for CD Federal for over a year now. She says her favorite thing about working here is, “The staff, the family atmosphere, no more commuting to Oakland. I have saved money and time. This has made me very happy!”

    LaWanda commented that some of her personal interests are, “I like the outdoors, shopping of course, going to the movies, and I love food. A good meal is an excellent way to get to know people.”

    Something that not many people know about her is that, “I became an aunt of 2 at 9 years of age and by 16 I was an aunt for 9 nieces and nephews. Also, I have a weakness for cheesesteaks.”

    One last thing LaWanda wanted to add is that, “Credit Unions are more friendly than banks and don’t charge as many fees. I am happy that I applied at CD Federal Credit Union. They were not hiring when I first applied, but I am glad that I inquired.” And, CD Federal is glad to have LaWanda as part of our team.
