Staff Bio - nicky

Nicky is our Lending Manager. She has been with CD Federal for  10 years. Nicky grew up in Concord but was born in Southbend, WA where her dad was in the Coast Guard. She has lived in Antioch since she and her husband bought their home in September 2003.

Nicky’s first job was at Round Table Pizza as a bus girl when she was 16 years old. She worked there for 2 years and then moved on to be a Barista at Java City in Walnut Creek.

Nicky’s mother works for MDUSD and opened Nicky’s first account with CDFCU.

Being a long-time member, Nicky remembers when the credit union was very small with only a few employees in a little house on Second Street. She applied at the credit union and would call the CEO, at the time Anne Pelayo, once every couple of weeks until the CEO finally interviewed her. Anne said Nicky got the job because she was so persistent and Anne liked that quality in her.

When asked what her favorite thing about working for CD Federal was, Nicky said, “I absolutely love what the credit union stands for. Credit Unions are all about helping people. If only everyone realized what credit unions have to offer, there would be more credit union members in the world. I also really enjoy the people I work with. They are more like family than co-workers.”

Nicky and her husband enjoy taking their kids camping, hunting and fishing. They have a boat that they take out in the ocean to fish for things like halibut, salmon and stripers. One of their favorite places to go camping is Del Valle Reservoir in Livermore. We asked Nicky what one thing is that not many people know about her and she said, “That I hunt and fish. A lot of people don’t think that women can do those types of things but they are very rewarding. It also gives me a chance to teach my kids about respecting nature and the outdoors.”

Nicky closed with the comment, “I look forward to serving the members of CDFCU for many more years to come.” CD Federal is very lucky to have Nicky as part of our team and we hope you get a chance to meet her if you haven’t already.
