Phishing
What is Phishing?
Phishing
is a method in which false e-mails are sent attempting to steal money by
convincing the recipient of the e-mail to reveal credit card information
or other financial information. The e-mails often contain links to a
website that asks for the information. The thief makes use of a false
homepage, that looks just like a trustworthy homepage of a valid
company, complete with logos and all.
In many
cases this kind of scam is so well done, that the browser is tricked
into showing the correct and expected web address in the subject line.
In other words, it is easy to be fooled by this kind of scam.

How Can I Protect Myself?
Please
be careful when you suddenly receive e-mails that ask you to reconfirm
sensitive information. Your account could be at risk if you give out
such information.
To
avoid phishing:
1.
Do not give out your account information by e-mail
or on a
website that the false e-mail lured you to.
2.
If an e-mail looks suspicious, do not click on the link
luring
you to a false website.
3.
See if your e-mail program has a spam-blocker built
in and be
sure it is turned on.
Please
remember that CD Federal will never randomly e-mail you asking you to
confirm your account information. Any such e-mails should be reported
to us immediately. Please click here for our contact information.
Other
ways your information can be stolen is through
