Congratulations to Jillian
Fenty, our CEO for a Day contest winner! Jillian entered our contest by
writing a one-page essay about how she would like to be a Gymnastics teacher
when she grows up. The contest was open to the Mt. Diablo Unified School
District students in the 4th and 5th grade, all of our members and several
businesses that CD Federal serves.
Jillian's big day included
learning the duties of our CEO, touring the credit union, job shadowing
employees, a limo ride to lunch and ice cream and learning about the
difference between a credit union and a bank. Jillian's teacher also
received a $100 gift card for classroom supplies.
The credit union staff
enjoyed meeting Jillian and her father, Brian, and showing them both what
credit unions are all about - people helping people. We look forward to next
year's entries and meeting our next "CEO for a Day."

June 2008
On June 7, 2008, CD Federal held it's 3rd movie day event, featuring
Kung Fu Panda at the Concord Brenden Theatre. Nearly 200 members and their
families joined us to view the show and enjoyed hotdogs, popcorn and drinks
as part of their $2 admission. The movie was quite a hit with our members
and staff with many laughs and lots of entertainment. We hope you'll
join us for our next movie day near the end of the year.

May 2008
CD Federal held a Beach Party in the credit union's employee
parking lot on May 2, 2008. It was a blast, with catering by Christopher's
Family Pizzeria, raffles every 10 minutes, a jumpy house, games, partner
booths, music & more! All new members received a $5 deposit to their
account that day and members were able to take advantage of share
certificate & loan specials!

In addition to all the fun, kids could decorate Amber Laree's Limited Late
Model race car sponsored by CD Federal Credit Union - look for it at the
Antioch Raceway!
Thank you to all of you
who joined us for the fun. If you missed it, please watch for the next
credit union event announced on our website or in your newsletter.

CD Federal is participating in the ConcordStock event put on by the Todos
Santos Business Association. Many local businesses have purchased guitar
sculptures to be displayed from May to September of 2008, destined to be
auctioned off at the California Symphony pops concert in the park. All funds
raised will be donated to charity, such as the Mt. Diablo Unified School
District's music programs.
At CD Federal, we chose
the theme of "Financial Freedom" for our guitar and had local artist, Jerry
Chatham, owner of
Frog's Art, paint and decorate the sculpture. Please be sure to stop by and see
our guitar at the beginning of May.

March 2008

On March 9, 2008, CD
Federal Credit Union participated in Junior Achievement's
Bowl-a-Thon at Diablo Lanes in Concord, CA. We had 10 people bowling on two different
teams.
The Bowl-A-Thon
raised money for Junior Achievement (JA) educational programs in the Bay
Area. Click
here to learn more about these programs. For every $25 raised, one
more child is able to benefit from these programs. JA programs are
provided at no cost to participating schools, and rely on local business
leaders to teach in the classroom. JA provides each of these 'teachers'
with a comprehensive kit, geared toward the grade and subject matter they
will be teaching. JA pays for these kits through fundraising efforts, such
as the Bowl-A-Thon.

December 2007
On December 21, 2007 you
could feel the spirit of giving at CD Federal Credit Union. Across the
street in the employee parking lot a large white bus was parked with people
going in one door and out the other. The Red Cross came at eight in the
morning and took donations all day. They had a wonderful staff that had a
knack for calming the nerves of the anxious donors. We had 33 potential
donors who could donate up to a pint of blood each. We all presume that
blood will always be there for us, yet hardly a fraction of people who can
give actually do so. Almost all of us will sometime in our lives face a
time of helplessness in which we will need blood, usually that time is
unexpected, so be prepared and give what you can. We had members who were
walking in and saw the bus; the Christmas spirit was so unbearable that they
had to give.

comedy.
Please check your newsletter and our website
for our next movie day in 2008. We hope you will be able to join us for the
fun!
