Beware of
Phishing Scams

What is Phishing?
Phishing
is a method in which false e-mails are sent attempting to steal money by
convincing the recipient of the e-mail to reveal credit card information
or other financial information.
The e-mails often contain links to a
website that asks for the information. The thief makes use of a false
homepage, that looks just like a trust-worthy homepage of a valid
company, complete with logos and all.
In many
cases this kind of scam is so well done, that the browser is tricked
into showing the correct and expected web address in the subject line.
To Avoid Phishing:
Do not give out your account info by e-mail or on a
website that the false e-mail lured you to. If an e-mail looks suspicious, do not click on the link leading to a false website.
If your e-mail has a spam-blocker, be
sure it is turned on.
